Pediatric Dentistry

Continuing Care

Much like the rest of our body, our oral health requires continuous maintenance. It is extremely important to be consistent with our oral hygiene, including regular visits to the dentist. By monitoring the dental development on a regular basis, the dentist is able to prevent small issues from becoming more severe, leading to more invasive and costly procedures. Some individuals require minimal intervention, only needing to be evaluated every 6 months, with x-ray exposed every 18-24 months. For patients that present with higher risk for caries (cavities) a more frequent protocol may be necessary to ensure that they maintain proper oral hygiene and control their diet appropriately. Although much of medicine and dentistry is focused on treatment of disease, the best approach is prevention. We are committed to educating each patient and their parent on proper oral hygiene and nutrition, tailoring our recommendations based on the individual’s risk level.
